Deborah Cannon

Deborah Cannon is author of the historical fantasy epic The Pirate Empress, set in Ming Dynasty China. She also writes paranormal suspense novels, won an honorable mention for "Twilight Glyph," a short story in the Canadian Tales of the Fantastic (Red Tuque Books 2013), and is a contributor to the popular franchise Chicken Soup for the Soul. Deborah grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, and had a career as an archaeologist, which took her from Canada’s west coast to England, the South Pacific Kingdom of Tonga, and finally to the shores of Lake Ontario before she took up writing. Her career as a fantasy writer began when she sold two short stories inspired by aboriginal myths to Farsector SFFH magazine. As a member of the Canadian Authors Association, she has contributed to the Canadian Writer’s Guide and has had several short stories published in CAA anthologies. She currently lives in Hamilton, Ontario, where she also writes under the pen name Daphne Lynn Stewart.
