Marlena Chertock & C. Thomas come to DC on Wed., June 12th, from 7-9PM!

Poets in Protest Reading Series: LGBTQ+ Pride

As our next installment of the Poets In Protest Reading Series at Loyalty Books, in honor of Pride Month, 5 queer and/or trans poets based in the DMV area will read a piece of their own and a piece written by a queer/trans literary predecessor to acknowledge our diversity, lineage, and evolution as community. There will be time  mingling after the reading. Hope to see you there! The event is FREE but please RSVP Here!

C. Thomas: No stranger to the stage, C. Thomas has graced numerous venues. Along his journey, C. has blasted his story at Studio 2001 Art Gallery, Busboys and Poets, Angelina College, Howard University, Eleanor Roosevelt High School and Journey of Faith United Methodist Church just to name a few venues. In 2015, he was named a Pioneer of Poetry by NUSPA (National Underground Spoken Word Poetry Awards) and is the 2019 Finalist for Poet Laureate of Alexandria. An unapologetic voice raising his voice for social change while challenging mindsets and commanding stages-ladies and gentlemen C. Thomas.

Marlena Chertock: Marlena Chertock has two books of poetry, Crumb-sized (Unnamed Press) and On that one-way trip to Mars (Bottlecap Press). She lives in Washington, D.C. and uses her skeletal dysplasia as a bridge to scientific poetry. Marlena serves on the planning committee for OutWrite, an LGBTQ literary festival in D.C. Find her at marlenachertock.com, @mchertock.
