Meet Richard McGregor
- September 1, 2017
The author of Asia's Reckoning: China, Japan, and the Fate of U.S. Power in the Pacific Century comes to DC on Tues., Sept. 5th, at 7PM.
McGregor, former Beijing bureau chief for the Financial Times, argues that the Pacific Rim, not the Middle East, will determine the shape of international politics and the future of American power in the 21st century. Following up his award-winning look at China, The Party, with a close analysis of China’s increasingly tense relationship with Japan, McGregor points to signs that the region’s Pax Americana, in place since the end of the Second World War, is giving way to instability and conflict, and he lays out the many economic and political consequences of a war between China and Japan.
