Meet Richard B. Frank

  • March 12, 2020

The author of Tower of Skulls: A History of the Asia-Pacific War comes to DC on Sun., March 15th, at 3PM!

Meet Richard B. Frank

The author of Guadalcanal and Downfall, Frank, in the opening volume of a projected trilogy on the Asia-Pacific theatre of World War II, cements his reputation as one of today’s foremost military historians. The first work in any language to tell the comprehensive story of the region’s role in the global conflict, this installment of Frank’s project covers the period from July 1937 to May 1942. In it he deftly retraces and analyzes in detail the campaigns in China, Singapore, and Burma — fighting which would ultimately claim more than 20 million lives — and contextualizes the battlefield events within the concurrent political, economic, and social developments of the day.
