Meet Reed Hundt

The author of A Crisis Wasted: Barack Obama's Defining Decisions comes to DC on Sun., Apr. 14th, at 1PM!

Meet Reed Hundt

Hundt was a member of the transition teams for the Clinton and Obama presidencies, and in his provocative new book he argues that Obama determined the fate of his presidency before he even took office. Closely examining the domestic policy decisions the president-elect made between September 2008 and his inauguration, Hundt finds that each one — from Obama’s plans to restore the economy and reform health care to his vision for addressing the housing market collapse — bound the administration to a firmly neoliberal course. Explaining that Obama felt hamstrung by his predecessor’s prioritization of bolstering Wall Street, Hundt shows that the course he set prepared the ground for Trump’s presidency. Now as we look ahead to the 2020 election, Hundt mines the past for useful lessons.
