Meet Dave Cullen

  • February 18, 2019

The author of Parkland: Birth of a Movement comes to DC on Wed., Feb. 20th, at 7PM.

Meet Dave Cullen

After writing the definitive account of the then deadliest school shooting in history, the award-winning Columbine, Cullen suffered secondary bouts of PTSD and swore off reporting on subsequent mass killings. But when he saw how courageously the students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School responded to the deaths of seventeen people there on February 14, 2018, he wanted to know more. Chronicling the story of the Parkland shooting from the perspective of the survivors, Cullen focuses as much on what happened after the violence as before and during it. He traces the students’ outrage at the NRA and Congress, shows how they channeled their anger into the #neveragain movement, and also lets us see the resilience that let them continue to study, plan for college, prepare for proms, and put together the yearbook.

This event is free to attend with no reservation required. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.
