BIPOC Scholarship Applications Now Open

The second-annual BIPOC Scholarship to attend the 2024 Washington Writers Conference, the DC-area’s premier publishing-focused writing event, will be awarded to five writers from BIPOC communities!

Applicants must be 18 years or older and be able to attend in person on May 3-4, 2024, in Rockville, MD. Recipients will have access to all activities, including panels, lunch, the keynote address, and agent-pitch sessions. (Please note: No travel expenses or accommodations will be provided.)

Applications will be reviewed by the conference’s planning committee, and recipients will be notified no later than April 1st. Scholarships are non-transferable and have no monetary value.

To apply, send an email by February 23rd to [email protected] (subject line: BIPOC Scholarship). Include your name, address, phone number, social media/website, and responses to the following in 250 words or fewer for each:

  1. Describe your creative-writing experience. What are you working on? Include any publications, awards, and/or relevant educational experiences.                  
  2. How can attending the 2024 Washington Writers Conference help you achieve your writing goals? Be specific.
  3. How does your writing reflect your identity?
  4. Optional: Attach a writing sample of up to five pages.
