Anthropologist Grant McCracken is the author of several books, including Culture and Consumption: New Approaches to the Symbolic Character of Consumer Goods and Activities and Chief Culture Officer: How to Create a Living, Breathing Corporation. His latest work is Return of the Artisan: How America Went from Industrial to Handmade, which he describes as “a Valentine to all those people who earn their living as artisans.” McCracken discussed Return of the Artisan with Stephen Usery in August.
