An occasional series in which writers speak for themselves.

Authors on Audio: Avery Cunningham

Tennessee native Avery Cunningham, a longtime writer and 2016 graduate of DePaul University’s Master of Arts in Writing and Publishing program, is also author of the debut novel The Mayor of Maxwell Street. In it, says Publishers Weekly, “Cunningham perfectly captures the contours of Jazz Age Chicago and the varying experiences of its citizens of color. Readers will be eager to see what [she] does next.” Cunningham discussed the work with Stephen Usery in late January.
