The author of The Weather Machine comes to DC on Mon., July 8th, at 7PM!

Andrew Blum in Conversation with Jason Samenow

A journalist with a knack for making complex systems accessible, Blum follows Tubes, his primer on the physical structure of the internet, with an engaging look at the international collaborative effort that gives us the daily weather report. Charting how forecasting has evolved from scattered stations to the U.N.'s World Meteorological Organization, Blum tours sites such as the National Center for Atmospheric Research's Mesa Lab and the "Euro" forecast factory in Reading, England, explaining the latest technology and introducing atmospheric scientists, data theorists, and others who are constantly working to upgrade the science of prediction. Blum will be in conversation with Jason Samenow, weather editor at the Washington Post and chief meteorologist of the Capital Weather Gang.

This event is free to attend with no reservation required. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.
