Mary Alice Welty White, niece of Eudora Welty, served as the first director of the Eudora Welty House, turning the family home into one of the most intact literary house museums in the United States, and she serves as secretary of the Eudora Welty Foundation.
Susan Richards Shreve is the author of fifteen novels, including You Are the Love of My Life, and most recently, More News Tomorrow, as well as the critically acclaimed memoir, Warm Springs. She’s the founder of the Master of Fine Arts Degree at George Mason University where she is a Professor of English, and was founding president and former Chairman of the PEN/Faulkner Foundation.
Ebony Lumumba is an associate professor and the Department Chair of English, Modern Foreign Languages, & Speech at Jackson State University. Her publications include a chapter in From Uncle Tom’s Cabin to The Help: Critical Perspectives on White-Authored Texts of Black Life, and she recently published “The Matter of Black Lives in American Literature: Eudora Welty’s Non-Fiction and Photography.”
Margaret McMullan is the author of nine award-winning books including In My Mother’s House, Aftermath Lounge, and Where The Angels Lived. Her work has appeared in USA Today, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, and other periodicals. A recipient of an NEA in literature, Margaret has taught at Stony Brook Southampton, Converse College, and Eastern Kentucky MFA programs.
Moderator W. Ralph Eubanks is the author of Ever Is a Long Time: A Journey Into Mississippi’s Dark Past, The House at the End of the Road, and the forthcoming A Place Like Mississippi . A 2007 Guggenheim Fellow, he is currently a visiting professor of English and Southern Studies at the University of Mississippi.
