An occasional series in which writers speak for themselves.
A longtime journalist, Jonathan Eig is also the author of multiple bestselling books, including Ali: A Life and Luckiest Man: The Life and Death of Lou Gehrig. His new book, King: A Life, was longlisted for the 2023 National Book Award. The New Yorker calls the work “a sober and intimate portrait of King’s short life…Eig captures the ferocity of the forces that opposed King…[and also his] sense of theatre, his enormously canny ability to stage confrontations that heightened the contrast between the civil-rights movement and the people who wanted to stop it.”
Eig discussed King: A Life with author/attorney Talmage Boston last week. Listen to the podcast here. (And read the Independent’s review of King: A Life here.)
