"Slamtastic!" Youth Open Mic & Poetry Slam is an exciting event hosted by Words Beats & Life on the first Saturday of every month. The upcoming edition on May 4, 2024, at 6:00 pm, is part of the DMV Youth Slam Competition Season, where talented young poets aged 13-19 compete to be crowned the Grand Slam Champion and earn a spot on the 2024 DMV Youth Slam Team. The competition consists of three rounds: the Quarter Finals, the Semi-Finals, and the Grand Finals. The Grand Finals will determine the Grand Slam Champion and announce the newest members of the DMV Youth Slam Team. Once the DMV Youth Slam Team is formed, the selected poets will receive tailored training from poetry and writing experts. They will engage in hands-on instruction to advance their writing skills and prepare for the 2024 Brave New Voices International Poetry Festival.
