The Feminist Majority Foundation is thrilled to host Merle Hoffman, a pioneer in the pro-choice movement and women's healthcare, to celebrate her new book "Choices: A Post-Roe Abortion Rights Manifesto." This in-person event will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 7:00 PM at Loyalty Bookstore in Petworth, Washington, D.C. Attendance is free, but registration is required. Hoffman has been at the forefront of the reproductive freedom movement since the 1970s, establishing one of the first abortion centers in the U.S. before Roe v. Wade legalized abortion. She later founded Choices, one of the nation's largest and most comprehensive women's medical facilities, and has been a fierce advocate for women's right to choose for over five decades. In the wake of the Supreme Court's Dobbs Decision overturning Roe v. Wade, Hoffman's new book offers an unapologetic and authoritative take on abortion rights and the catastrophic repercussions of the ruling. The manifesto sheds light on the path forward, covering topics such as revamping healthcare systems, combating authoritarianism, fighting anti-abortion groups, and activating the next generation in the fight for reproductive justice. Merle Hoffman is an American author, activist, and feminist healthcare innovator who has been on the front lines of the reproductive rights movement since 1971. She founded CHOICES Women's Medical Center in Jamaica, Queens, which provides abortions, prenatal care, counseling, and other services. Hoffman has organized crucial actions in the history of the reproductive rights movement and remains a crucial provider and activist in the post-Roe era. The event organizers have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment or intimidation of any kind during this event. Attendees can purchase Hoffman's book at the event or from Loyalty Bookstore.
