Join us for a Saturday of poetry during National Poetry Month, out in the gardens of The Ivy Bookshop! EC Poetry and Prose is a collective of poets and writers who believe in the power of language to convey truth and promote peace. Their members are spoken word artists, published authors, and new and emerging writers. Zorina Exie Frey is a 2023 Pushcart Prize winner whose poems have appeared in prestigious journals. Kari Martindale is a poet and spoken word artist who serves on the board of the Maryland Writers' Association and is a co-editor of the literary journal Pen in Hand. Patti (Spady) Ross, the founder of the First Fridays reading series, has had her debut chapbook published and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Clifford Bernier is the author of two poetry chapbooks and has been featured at readings across the country, including at the Library of Congress. Patrice Smith is a lifelong DC-area resident whose poetry collections "Iris's Eyes" and "The Drum That Calls" showcase her passion and power. Letitsa (Tisa) Melton is a self-published poet whose book "Ever Evolving" explores themes of strength and perseverance. Marielle "Mari" Bugayong is a budding writer ready to share her work after leading the spoken word group Archipelag-a at Brown University. This diverse group of poets and writers will come together for a special reading in the beautiful gardens of The Ivy Bookshop to celebrate National Poetry Month.
