"2001: A Space Odyssey" was originally published in 1968 concurrently with the release of the film (which incidentally world premiered at DC’s own Uptown Theater). The novel deals with themes of continuing human evolution and serves as a warning about artificial intelligence/sentience.

The Bushwick Book Club is the joyous intersection of indie artists and book nerds. Started 14 years ago by Susan Hwang in New York, there are now over seven chapters worldwide including Atlanta, London, Los Angeles, Malmo, New York, Oakland and Seattle. The DC Chapter launched last July with a show inspired by Kurt Vonnegut's The Sirens of Titan. 2001: A Space Odyssey will be their seventh show.

Artomatic DC is now in it’s 25 th year with a mission of strengthening the local artistic community by bringing artists together to temporarily transform available space into creative space.
