The annual VOICES lecture series, hosted by our community partner, the Church of the Redeemer, is set to feature Joseph Hooper discussing "Fire on the Levee: The Murder of Henry Glover and the Search for Justice After Hurricane Katrina." Hooper, a Baltimore native and accomplished freelance journalist based in New York City, will delve into the intricacies of this gripping true crime saga alongside Ashley Johnson, a former FBI agent pivotal in solving the case, and lead author and Justice Department prosecutor, Jared Fishman. Fishman's investigation, initiated in 2009 after suspicions arose regarding the involvement of the New Orleans police in the shooting death and disappearance of Henry Glover, ultimately uncovered a disturbing cover-up. Hooper and Fishman's collaboration sheds light on this harrowing tale, offering profound insights into civil rights issues and systemic injustices. Attendees can also expect to find copies of the book available for purchase, courtesy of The Ivy Bookshop.
