Queering the Narrative is a safe space for LGBTQIA+ readers to come together and discuss queer experiences in literature. Each month we will focus on a specific genre, and members can read any book within that genre written by an LGBTQIA+ author or featuring LGBTQIA+ characters/storylines, to discuss how the conventions of the genre affect (or affected by) telling a queer narrative. The goal of this club is to create a local community of queer adults who love reading and would love to have an open dialogue about the variety of queer stories available today.

If you have any questions, concerns, or want help picking your read of the month, email [email protected] or [email protected].

Sign up here to join our mailing list to be notified of upcoming meetings and receive our monthly newsletter. After signing up, Kit or Laynie-Rose will reach out with more information about how to RSVP to future meetings.

About the Hosts:

Laynie-Rose (she/they) is the Events Manager, Staff Astrologer, and Staff Emotional Support Lesbian! Her favorite kinds of stories are ones with romance, magic, or wild adventures. When not at the shop, you can find them in an art museum, at a hockey game, watching Star Trek, or hanging out with her cat: The Outlaw Kitty Wells.

Kit (they/them) is a full-time bookseller, part-time theatre/dance artist, and ECB's very own Dungeons and Dragons enthusiast. While at the store, they can either be found on the floor gushing about their favorite queer fiction, or behind the scenes processing online orders and answering emails and calls in the ecommerce department.

Upcoming Meetings:

Next Meeting: February 19th @ 7:00 PM
For February and the month of love and Valentines, we'll be reading Adult Historical Romances! (Not historical romantasy, not historical literary fiction with a romantic element, not young adult historical romances, capital H capital R Historical Romances.) Let us know if you have any questions!
