This relaxing and productive weekend is open to anyone who wants to spend the weekend focused on their writing - regardless of genre or experience. 

Highlights of the retreat include:

  • Four days of classes and discussions led by an expert writing teacher and creativity coach, and award-winning author
  • Evening gatherings to listen to and share your work 
  • Happy Hour discussions about the writing life (topics voted on at registration)
  • Time to collage with access to collage materials all weekend
  • Delicious, organic meals and desserts made by someone else
  • Gorgeous location with time to explore, chill out, and re-charge
  • Three nights lodging in a lovely house in a secluded area
  • Nine lunches and dinners served buffet style, and daylong access to the well-stocked kitchen
  • Plenty of time to write, read, relax, and connect with other women writers

  • Boost your luxury! Massage appointments are available throughout the weekend. Massages are scheduled after you arrive for an additional $85/hour and take place in an on-site massage room. 

This annual retreat is facilitated by Melanie Figg, an expert writing teacher and skilled creativity coach, and published author.

The retreat center (actually a very large house with a separate studio/classroom) is just 5 minutes from Harper's Ferry and 65 minutes from DC and Dulles. It is located in a gorgeous secluded area—perfect for a relaxing, inspiring weekend.

Melanie Figg (MFA, CPCC) is a 2017-2019 NEA Poetry Fellow and a certified professional coach. She has decades of experience teaching and mentoring writers of all levels.
