Eugene L. Meyer will be signing his book FIVE FOR FREEDOM and speaking about the five African Americans with John Brown during the raid on Oct. 16-17, 1859 — the world into which they were born and grew up, how they came to join him at this fateful time and place, the aftermath of the abortive effort to incite a slave insurrection, the raiders’ descendants and how this story from the past continues to resonate in the present.  It is an American story.  It is our story.
