Details No matter what changes during the year, 12-year old Shayne can depend on her summers in Maine. She goes antiquing with her grandmother, searches for beach glass, and frolics with her best friend Poppy. This summer, suddenly everything is different. Not only is Poppy boy crazy, she now must work at her family’s store. Grandma Bea has morphed from quirky collector into full-on hoarder. This story touches on difficult themes like mental illness and asking for help, in a way that is understandable to middlegrade readers. With grace and humor, Junk Mountain leaves you rooting for Shayne and her grandmother to overcome their toughest battles. Ages 9 to 12. This event is free to attend with no reservation required. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.
