Details Miller won the Orange Prize for The Song of Achilles, her masterly retelling of Homer’s Iliad. Her second novel returns to classical myth for a rich reimagining of Circe, the Odyssey enchantress who turned men into pigs. Daughter of Helios, the sun god, and Perse, an ocean nymph, Circe lacks the power of her father and the beauty of her mother. When she starts to exhibit strange talents that threaten the gods, she’s exiled to an island. There she does as she pleases—for a while. Again attracting the wrath of a stronger being, Circe has to decide if her place is with the deities or the mortals. This event is free to attend with no reservation required. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis. Click here for more information. 5015 Connecticut Ave NW Washington DC 20008
