A look at an interesting book club and how it is they do what they do.

Your Club in Lights: The “Tuesdays with Tea” Book Club in Frederick, MD

Your club’s name: Tuesdays with Tea Book Club (Voila! — a tea shop next door — provides our hot or cold tea selections each month).

Location: The Curious Iguana bookstore in downtown Frederick, MD.

How long you’ve been around: Since November 2013.

How many members: We have anywhere from six to 10 members attend, depending on the month. There was one month where we had quite a snowstorm on book club day, but a few members still made it to the meeting!

Book you’re currently reading: Across a Hundred Mountains by Reyna Grande.

Book you last read: Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Book that’s up next: We’re still deciding on the title for October — it’s difficult to choose!

Since your inception, the book that has generated the strongest (good, bad, or otherwise) reaction: Probably The Dinner by Herman Koch — so much to discuss in that book!

The secret to your club’s success: I wish I knew and could bottle it! Most of us did not know each other before book club began. I find the mix of wonderful and insightful women we have in our group amazing. We share various insights from each book and truly enjoy one another’s company. The books have stretched our viewpoints as readers and as individuals, and I know that’s something we’re proud of.
