Vick Mickunas interviews Donald Ray Pollock about his novel The Devil All the Time (Doubleday)

Donald Ray Pollock spent his boyhood years in a rural community in southeastern Ohio called Knockemstiff. In 2008 he published Knockemstiff, a collection of short stories which were inspired to some degree by his childhood memories.

Pollock recently published his first novel, The Devil All the Time. The author has described it as “gothic hillbilly noir.” In this interview he shares his personal story. It is every bit as fascinating as the fiction he creates.
