Have Yourself a Bookish Little Christmas Eve

By now, you’ve surely heard of hygge, the Danish concept of burrowing down, snuggling up, and making the cold, dark winter months as cozy as possible.

Well, wouldn’t you know it? The Scandinavians (Icelanders, specifically) have an extravagantly simple Christmas Eve ritual, too: jólabókaflóð, or “Yule Book Flood,” during which friends and families exchange new books and then spend the evening reading them together.

Swoon.

If you’d like to make this Christmas Eve (or regular old Dec. 24th, if Santa isn’t your guy) a bit more bookish, we offer the following suggestions:
