  • January 5, 2022

An occasional series in which writers speak for themselves.

A longtime staff writer at the New Yorker, Susan Orlean is also the author of multiple bestselling books, including The Bullfighter Checks Her Makeup, The Orchid Thief, and The Library Book. Her newest work is On Animals, which USA Today calls “a broad meditation on how the connections we make, or fail to make, with animals mark us profoundly along our human journey.” Orlean discussed On Animals with WYPL’s Stephen Usery in October.
