A legendary longtime sports reporter for the Newark Star-Ledger and a member of the Sports Hall of Fame of New Jersey, the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame, and the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, Jerry Izenberg is also the author of multiple books, including Once There Were Giants: The Golden Age of Heavyweight Boxing and the novel After the Fire. His new memoir is Baseball, Nazis & Nedick’s Hot Dogs: Growing Up Jewish in the 1930s in Newark, which fondly recalls his childhood in the Garden State. Izenberg discussed Baseball, Nazis & Nedick’s Hot Dogs with Dean Karayanis in June.
