Chanelle Benz, an instructor at Rhodes College in Memphis and author of the award-winning story collection The Man Who Shot My Eye Out Is Dead — named a Best Book of 2017 by the San Francisco Chronicle and one of Electric Literature’s 15 Best Short Story Collections of 2017 — recently penned her first novel, The Gone Dead. She discusses her new work, a multilayered Southern drama and "Tonight Show" Summer Reads finalist, here with FM89.3 WYPL’s Stephen Usery.
