The American Association of Community Colleges is pleased to welcome Jim Jacobs, author of Moving a Community College Forward, president emeritus of Macomb Community College, and a longtime national leader in workforce-development policy, who will discuss the lessons he has learned about the community-college movement and his ideas for moving the sector forward. His book positions community colleges as vital engines of economic mobility and civil life, tracking their transformation from "local educational afterthoughts" to critical institutions.
Dr. Jacobs' remarks will be followed by a panel discussion with DeRionne Pollard, President and CEO of the American Association of Community Colleges; David Wessel, director of the Hutchins Center on Fiscal and Monetary Policy at the Brookings Institution and former Wall Street Journal reporter; and Jordan Matsudaira, professor at the American University School of Public Affairs and former Dept. of Education official.
Light refreshments will be served. Register for free at https://fs2.formsite.com/oUItMA/n8joqe8fz9/index.
