The DC Bushwick Book Club is excited to partner with Avant Bard Theatre to present new works inspired by Shakespeare’s Two Gentlemen of Verona as part of Avant Bard’s Resistance Reading Series and in anticipation of Avant Bard’s upcoming adaption, Two Gentlemen of Killarney opening March 5th!

The DC Bushwick Book Club is one of eight active chapters around the world of The Bushwick Book Club, the joyous intersection of indie artists and book nerds, where artists read
a book then create new work inspired by it. The Bushwick Book Club started in 2009 in Brooklyn, NY, and the DC Chapter was founded in 2022. This is the DC Bushwick Book Club’s first foray into theatre and where better to start than Shakespeare?

Participating artists include charlee scythe (music), Dylan DelliSanti (music), Kerri Sheehan (animation), Nina Goodman (music), Safety Bear (music), Sea Griffin (music) and Shelley Star (music). They will also be joined by members of the Two Gentlemen of Killarney cast who will be performing a couple of songs from the show!

The Resistance Readings Series was created by Avant Bard to use art to resist the nihilism, intolerance and authoritarianism plaguing the world today, presenting staged readings and other acts every third Sunday of the month at The Filling Station in Arlington, VA.
