The BookFest is an annual celebration of Capitol Hill-based books and authors held each spring at historic Eastern Market. The event has become a local tradition, and features more than 50 authors, booksellers, publishers, libraries, and other exhibitors, putting book lovers of all ages face to face with some of the most respected writers and literary institutions in the country. This year, exhibitors including the Library of Congress, the Folger Shakespeare Library, and award-winning publisher Shout Mouse Press will share the spotlight with New York Times contributor Louis Bayard, rising literary star Abby Maslin, D.C. Hall of Fame inductee E. Ethelbert Miller, and many others. Families will love our lively Children's Corner, with readings, puppetry, poetry, crafts, and more.

This year's event will be held on Sunday, May 5 in the North Hall of Eastern Market from 11 am to 3 pm, followed immediately by our popular open mic poetry slam at Tunnicliff's Tavern. For more info, visit www.literaryhillbookfest.org or call 202-368-6816.
