Farai Chideya in Conversation with Marc Steiner

Farai Chideya uses her years of experience as a journalist, TV correspondent, and popular NPR host to explore the frontlines of today's economic upheaval in The Episodic Career. The book provides 1) practical advice coupled with the tools you need to find the job that's right for you; 2) a big-picture vision of the world economy, as well as the particulars of salary, family, health, and lifestyle crucial to finding your place in the work world; 3) profiles of people from all walks of life who have forged their own paths even in times of hardship; 4) an examination of how America is redefining the notion of retirement; and 5) a frank look at stereotypes, employment discrimination, and steps toward a healthy workplace.

Chideya is a Distinguished Writer in Residence at NYU's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. During her 20-year career, she has given thousands of speeches and hosted hundreds of events. She frequently appears on public radio and cable television, speaking about race, politics, and culture. She moderated a Democratic presidential debate in 2004 and comments for CNN, MTV, Fox, MSNBC, BET, CBS, ABC, and other media. She is the former host of NPR's "News and Notes." Marc Steiner is host of the Marc Steiner Show (WEAA 88.9 FM).
