The Gaithersburg Book Festival is back in person this Saturday!

The Return of the King

It’s always a thrill for the Independent to partner with the area’s premier literary fest, the Gaithersburg Book Festival, but this year is especially sweet. After two years of shifting everything online (thanks, covid), the city of Gaithersburg, MD, will once again host its fantastic event live and in person — and in an all-new location!

Join fellow readers, writers, and lovers of literature at Gaithersburg’s Bohrer Park this Saturday, May 21st, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for a full day of exhilarating — and free — bookish fun! (It’s rain or shine, so prepare accordingly.)

This year’s featured authors include Jabari Asim, S.A. Cosby, Karen Joy Fowler, Adam Schiff, Fiona Hill, Ann Hood, Jocelyn Nicole Johnson, Allison Leotta, Jacqueline Mitchard, Dolen Perkins-Valdez, and dozens more. Other happenings include writing workshops, a poetry contest, a children’s village, vendors, and lots of delectable food!

Whether you’re into fiction, nonfiction, poetry, flash, genre-bending works, or something in between, you’ll find plenty to immerse yourself in during the Gaithersburg Book Festival. And while you’re there, be sure to stop by the Independent’s booth and say hello! Rumor has it we’ll be raffling off some books of our own!

The Gaithersburg Book Festival is Sat., May 21st, at Bohrer Park, 506 S. Frederick Ave., Gaithersburg, MD. Click here for more info.
