An occasional series in which writers speak for themselves.

Authors on Audio: John Archibald

A reporter and Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for the Birmingham News, John Archibald is also author of the recently released Shaking the Gates of Hell: A Search for Family and Truth in the Wake of the Civil Rights Revolution. The Washington Post called the book “a fascinating blend of family memoir and moral reckoning…Archibald’s honest account of one family’s uneasy journey through the civil rights and gay rights revolutions makes it clear that there are no easy decisions — or answers — when grappling with issues of faith and social justice.”

Archibald discussed Shaking the Gates of Hell with WYPL’s Stephen Usery in early May.
