4 Much-Anticipated Summer Reads

  1. Let Me Tell You: New Stories, Essays, and Other Writings by Shirley Jackson (Random House). The masterful author of such classic tales as “The Lottery” is back — albeit posthumously — with this collection of previously unreleased and/or uncollected works.

  2. The Festival of Insignificance by Milan Kundera (Harper). Set in modern-day Paris, this slim tale about four friends is classic Kundera: insightful and spot-on.

  3. Playing to the Gallery: Helping Contemporary Art in Its Struggle to Be Understood by Grayson Perry (Penguin). So what if modern art leaves you scratching your head and wondering, “Huh?” This book explains why that’s okay, and why you should go to the museum, anyway.

  4. Crooked by Austin Grossman (Little, Brown/Mulholland). It’s high time somebody let Richard Nixon narrate a weird, snarky, funny tale from beyond the grave.
