Vick Mickunas is a columnist, book reviewer, blogger, and interviewer for
the Dayton Daily News and the other Cox Ohio newspapers. In 1994 he created his Book Nook radio program for WYSO Public Radio, the NPR affiliate that serves SW Ohio. He has interviewed humorists (Sarah Vowell, Garrison Keillor, Bill Bryson), politicians (George McGovern, Mario Cuomo, Barbara Boxer), pundits (Christopher Hitchens, Naomi Klein, Chris Hedges), astronauts (John Glenn, Buzz Aldrin, Gene Cernan), diplomats (Richard Holbrooke, Jose Ramos Horta), movie stars (Charlton Heston, Janet Leigh, Peter Ustinov), and historians (Studs Terkel, David McCullough, Richard Reeves). He has interviewed novelists like Pat Conroy, Richard Ford, James Lee Burke, Gary Shteyngart, Tom Robbins, Amy Tan, Geraldine Brooks, Aleksandar Hemon, and Donald Ray Pollock. Vick has interviewed over 1300 writers.
