Roger Ferlo




Roger Ferlo teaches religion and culture at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA.  Before his ordination as an Episcopal priest, he earned a Ph. D. in English literature at Yale and taught there for six years as assistant professor of English, receiving the Yale Faculty Prize for Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching. He is the author of Opening the Bible and Sensing God (both published by Rowman and Littlefield) and editor of Heaven (Seabury 2007). He has also published widely in periodicals and on the World Wide Web, and has lectured and taught in Italy, Australia and South Africa. His wife, Anne Harlan, a book artist, is the librarian at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School in Washington, DC. An avid amateur cellist, Ferlo plays in the orchestra of St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Washington, where he is a parishioner.  He is also a featured speaker in the Divining Shakespeare pre-performance discussion series at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC.
