Arthur Schwarz

Arthur L. Schwarz retired from the investment industry in 1998 to devote himself to studying and teaching about English history and rare books. His book collecting interests focus increasingly on Tudor England, especially the reign of Henry VIII and the English Reformation; he curated a major exhibition, Vivat Rex: Commemorating the 500th Anniversary of the Accession of Henry VIII at The Grolier Club in New York in 2009 and the Folger Shakespeare Library in 2010.

Arthur is a current or former board member of The Grolier Club, the Bibliographical Society of America, Rare Book School (a foundation of the University of Virginia), and the Center for Book Arts (NYC)  He teaches two courses on collecting and appraising rare books at New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
