ROCKVILLE, MD -- The F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Festival will present its annual Award for
Achievement in American Literature to acclaimed author Richard Powers. The Festival will be
held on Saturday, October 15 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Rockville, MD. The
theme of this year's Fitzgerald Festival is "Stories and the More-Than-Human."  It will also
feature a keynote talk by Alice McDermott and morning and afternoon Writing Workshops. 
Richard Powers is an award-winning American author of more than twenty books. His novels
have been praised by critics and the public alike for their exploration of the complex relationship
between modern science and humankind and include Plowing the Dark (2000) a National Book
Award finalist, The Echo Maker (2006) which won the National Book Award, and The
Overstory, (2019) which won the Pulitzer Prize. Powers’s latest novel, Bewilderment (2021), was
shortlisted for the Booker Prize and the National Book Award. Registration for the Festival on
